BISS Ch Qadim Kamar Ibn Kahlil
Kamar means "moon" and did he ever shine! Unlike the moon, however, it was my world that revolved around him. I first saw Kamar at three weeks of age, and something in my heart said, that's the one. From the day I brought him home (nine weeks old), he made it clear that he was his own person, and I treated him as such. By 13 months of age, he had won an SCOA Sweepstakes (Eastern Regional) and needed only four points to finish. Over the next several months, he sired his first litter and finished his AKC championship with four majors. Kamar's innate showmanship always made my handling skills appear more advanced than they really were, but never did he shine more brilliantly than on the day of his Best in Specialty at Empire in 1988. He absolutely beamed that day, despite the heat and humidity that would have normally caused him to fade. It was as though he knew that was his day, and he was going all out for it! As fate would have it, Kamar's final show appearance was also at Empire, nine years later in the 10-12 years Veteran Class - a performance to rival that of his 1988 win, ever the showman, the grand old man of my heart. I'm so very grateful to Melissa Meszaros & Jes (Meszaros) Dixon for capturing his final performance on video. I will treasure it always.
