Profile of Artist Donald J E Wieden ....SEDEKI SALUKIS

The world famous prefix “Sedeki” needs no introduction to saluki people, and is well known to hound-showing circles all over the world.

 Don Wieden has been in Salukis over 40 years.  He obtained his first Saluki from Gwen Angel (Mazuri, U.K.) in 1960 while in England.  He become a Saluki Club (UK) committee member in 1966 and served as Chairman of the Committee for about 5 years.  He exported the first smooth Salukis into Scandinavia in 1968 and the very first Saluki into Malaysia.  He has exports to all the major countries of the world.

 Don’s most outstanding dog was Sedeki Barre. 

American born, award winning painter and sculptor, Don Wieden (Bachelor of Fine Arts) has lived in the United Kingdom for over 24 years.  For the last seven, he has lived jus outside the charming village of Leominster in Herefordshire.

 He has become well known internationally as a dog breeder, exhibitor, judge and more recently, a columnist for the Our Dogs publication.  He has owned and shown champion dogs and cats in America, Canada, Southern Ireland and the U.K.  A Grand Champion home bred Manx cat, is the most recent achievement.  Having judged dogs in eleven countries, a highlight was the evaluating of four breeds at the world famous Cruft’s in 1994.

 Few living artists are as versatile as Wieden.  He has had one man shows in Cambridge, Bury St. Edmonds and London, as well as in the United States.
