S.I.G.H. UPDATES……….as of November 18, 1996

Hello all,

The SIGH Committee people have been working very hard this past couple of weeks trying to come up with a Questionnaire which, whilst providing us with the information we need for our data collection, will also be reasonably straightforward for the Saluki owner to fill out.

The Necropsy Form has been pretty well ironed out, and once these forms plus covering letter are completed, copies will be sent to as many people as we can send them to, plus they will be posted on the SIGH Web Page for downloading.

We are still in need of more volunteers, particularly in the areas of Fund Raising and Public Relations so if anyone has expertise in these areas and wishes to help us, please feel free to contact the SIGH list at SIGH-L@apple.ease.lsoft.com. You can send a message to that address, but you cannot access the list itself. Mark your subject line - Volunteer.

Dr. JoAnn Van Arsdale has been able to find a colleague willing to set-up a clinic for heart tests. We would like to know how many people would be willing to attend such a clinic. It would be at JoAnn's office and there would be a nominal fee (as yet to be decided), proceeds to offset any expenses incurred and remaining monies to SIGH funds. Before we go ahead with this Clinic, we would like a "show of hands" from people within reasonable driving distance of JoAnn's as to whether they would be interested in attending such a clinic. We at SIGH are pleased with the progress we have made in such a short space of time and feel that, in time, we will be able to develop a database of information which will benefit all Salukis everywhere and, hopefully, give us answers to the many questions we have all asked at one time or another - why are our Salukis dying or succumbing to these specific illnesses?
